ABOUT
Hi, I'm Anna.
Health and wellness have been part of my life for as long as I can remember.
I grew up in a small Virginia town where my mother owned a women’s fitness center and Pilates studio. I was a ballet dancer and eventually became a certified Pilates instructor, teaching alongside her. From an early age, movement, nutrition, and caring for others were simply part of my everyday life.
My grandmother inspired my path into nursing. After raising five children, she returned to school in her fifties and became a nurse. Her determination, along with my mother’s influence, ultimately led me to pursue nursing myself.
More than 16 years later, I’m a Family Nurse Practitioner licensed in Virginia. I’ve practiced as a Family Nurse Practitioner in skilled nursing and palliative care, caring for patients with complex chronic medical and psychiatric conditions. My years in nursing and advanced practice have shaped the way I think about health—not as a collection of separate diagnoses, but as an interconnected picture of physical health, metabolic function, mental health, and quality of life.
Along the way, I began noticing a pattern: nutrition was often an overlooked piece of the picture.
Too often, the standard approach to nutrition in healthcare relies heavily on added sugars and refined carbohydrates—even for patients already struggling with metabolic disease. I became increasingly interested in what happens when we look beyond simply managing symptoms and instead address the metabolic factors that may be contributing to disease in the first place.
That is the foundation for the practice I’m building.
A Different Approach to Care
This practice is designed to go beyond simply treating lab values or refilling prescriptions.
I’ll work with patients to understand the bigger picture—looking at nutrition, metabolic health, lifestyle, medications, mental health, and the laboratory data that can help guide individualized care.
Depending on your needs, care may include comprehensive laboratory evaluation, prescription and medication management, nutritional guidance, and ongoing monitoring of your progress. I’m particularly interested in identifying opportunities to simplify a medication regimen when appropriate. As metabolic health improves, some patients may be able to reduce or discontinue certain medications under appropriate clinical supervision.
I also want to look deeper than the standard panel of routine labs when there is a clinical reason to do so. The goal isn’t to order more tests simply for the sake of testing, but to gather meaningful information that can help us understand what is happening beneath the surface and make more informed decisions about your care.
This is not about replacing your primary care provider or asking you to choose between conventional medical care and a different approach. It is about adding a more comprehensive, personalized layer of care focused on the factors that influence your health over the long term.
My approach centers on metabolic health, nutrition, and sustainable lifestyle changes, while recognizing that mental health is an essential part of the equation. I recently completed my Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner training, with board certification in progress, because I believe physical and mental health cannot truly be separated. Nutrition, metabolic health, behavior, and mental health all influence one another.
My goal is to bring these pieces together in a thoughtful, evidence-informed approach—one that looks at the whole person rather than a single diagnosis.
Until the practice opens, I’ll be sharing what the research tells us, what we’re still learning, and practical ways to think differently about metabolic and mental health.
